Semen Gresik Responds to Disaster, Helping Fire and Landslide Victims in 2 Districts

Rembang, January 23rd, 2024 PT Semen Gresik through the Quick Reaction Team (TRC) Disaster Response Unit in collaboration with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) moved quickly to send fire trucks (Damkar) at the location of the Medang market fire in Blora Regency (Sunday, 21/1), and distributed assistance for facilities and infrastructure for cliff retaining buildings to areas affected by landslides in Pakis village, Sale District, Rembang Regency.

Senior Manager of Communication & CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Dharma Sunyata, revealed that Semen Gresik is present to ease the burden of disaster-affected communities as the realization of the Social & Environmental Responsibility (CSR) program in the operational area.

"The distribution of this assistance is a tangible manifestation of the company's commitment and social responsibility to continue to be present with the community amid disasters. Hopefully, it can provide benefits so that our affected brothers and sisters can immediately recover and rise from difficult times," he explained.

Dharma added, that Semen Gresik's efforts related to disaster mitigation have not only been limited to when disasters occur but also include disaster prevention activities through the K3 (Occupational Safety and Health) unit in the form of community preparedness training in dealing with emergencies.

"So that the hope is to be able to create a more resilient community in facing any potential disasters in their respective areas," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of BPBD Blora Regency, Mulyowati, expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of Semen Gresik which has contributed to helping extinguish the fire that occurred in the Medang market.
